CSI's President, Jeff Smith, and wife, Barbara Smith, hosted Cooking Light in their home this January for "Invite Your Neighbor to Dinner Day," a holiday they both helped create that is now officially recognized by Pennsylvania legislature. The smiling couple can be found throughout the magazine in a lavish eight-page spread that shows beautiful pictures of their home, family (Marley the dog included, of course!), neighborhood friends, and covers how they originally came up with the idea for "Dinner Day." The January/February 2008 edition of the national magazine reads, "Invite a Neighbor to Dinner Day celebrates the slogan, 'build bridges, not fences' and urges everyone, Pennsylvania resident or not, to strengthen their communities through the simple act of inviting a neighbor over for dinner." Jeff is pictured with a wide smile, raising a glass to toast his neighbors. "You might think of where you live and who your neighbors are as completely random," he exclaimed. "But I think there are no accidents in the world; the people next door, the widowed man across the street, and the family of eight around the corner are all there waiting for you to take the first step. You can change the fabric of your neighborhood, give something special to yourself, your community, and the world, just by stopping neighbors in the street and inviting them to dinner."
